Previous website obfuscated user intention of browsing the collection, and did not provide valuable context for users to gauge the relative size of items. Additionally, as direct online sales are not possible for various reasons, an alternative eCommerce method had to be created. Users would copy any paste information, often with errors, attempting to order something through the site.
Allow users to interact with all editorial style images directly. Clicking on individual items in an image will provide more information on each item, while a small gallery of related images is shown below. Doing so also eases the job of the curator, who now has to only sort 5-10 images per page vs 100+. Sales will follow the typical eCommerce model, only modified to fit business goals; users will be directed to message a representative when they “check out”, with the contents of their “cart” already added to the message.
